Mukhriz ready to face music

ALOR SETAR: Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir says he is ready to face any consequences that would arise from his visit to Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s house in Kuala Lumpur following his sacking from the Cabinet.

Mukhriz’s visit already had tongues wagging but his position is now believed to be compromised after a video of Muhyiddin claiming that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had admitted that US$700mil (RM2.6bil) was transferred into his personal bank accounts went viral.

The video showed Mukhriz seated next to Muhyiddin during the visit. Former Umno supreme council member Tan Sri Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir was also shown in the video clip.

When asked if his position as Kedah mentri besar would be affected by the leaked video clip, Mukhriz said he had done no wrong.

“I do not see anything wrong with my visit. He is Umno deputy president, so I think it is not wrong for me to visit him under the circumstances. I wasn’t there to ask him why he was removed. I went there to say thanks for what he had done for Kedah.

“Secondly, he shouldn’t be stopped from talking. He is the house owner. The recording that went viral is not the fault of Muhyiddin. He didn’t know it was being recorded. The one who recorded it should be questioned,” Mukhriz said.

He added that the person who recorded it had been identified, but declined to name him.

“I did not do anything wrong and I am ready to face any possible outcome,” Mukhriz said at the Jerlun Umno division Hari Raya open house yesterday.
