PETALING JAYA: Foreign workers no longer have to apply for work permits manually as they will need to go through health checks at clinics with BioMedical facilities.
Datuk Mustafa Ibrahim said this was part of the BioMedical and eVDR modules in the Foreign Workers Centralised Management System (FWCMS) for Visa with Reference (VDR) applications.
"All future foreign workers have to go through health checks at clinics with facilities for biometric and vetting purposes," said the Immigration Department director-general.
He said the eVDR has been made compulsory for any insurance purchase for foreign workers.
"Employers do not need to wait at Immigration counters anymore," he said.
Mustafa said all Immigration counters will be opened during its transition period for 15 days, before it is fully closed on July 1.
There will be no additional service charges imposed on the eVDR module, he said.
"The employers' contact details should be updated in the system to ensure the validity of the data," he added.
The implementation of the BioMedical and eVDR modules in the FWCMS was supposed to start on Jan 15 but was postponed to allow the department and the Home Ministry to evaluate and fine-tune policies on the system.
