GEORGE TOWN: Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said he would respect former PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu’s resignation from all his posts in the state government.
Lim said he saluted the latter for being a man of principle and said Mohammad, who is better known as Mat Sabu has no greed for power.
"Although he has his own views, he obeyed the decision by the Dewan Ulama to cut all ties with DAP which led him to resign from all his posts.
"Personally, I find this sad but I understand and respect his decision. I salute how Mat Sabu sacrificed himself for the party, something we rarely see in PAS leaders nowadays," he told a press conference after the Komtar Tower Run prize presentation here Sunday.
Lim added that any post left vacant by PAS members will be occupied by Malays.
Mat Sabu currently still hold posts in the Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) and also the Penang International Halal Hub.
The DAP Secretary-General also said that it would be a new challenge for the new PAS central executive committee to follow up on the issue on severing ties with DAP.
