KUALA LUMPUR: Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar and businessman Raja Ahmad Shahrir Iskandar Raja Salim have officially divorced after the latter pronounced the talak in a Syariah High Court here.
Raja Ahmad Shahrir finalised the divorce before Syarie judge Mohd Amran Mat Zain at about 4.17pm. Present were Nurul's counsel Normawaddah Ramli and Raja Ahmad Shahrir's counsel Azmi Mohd Rais.
Judge Mohd Amran said the court heard the talak uttered by Raja Ahmad Shahrir and was satisfied that it (talak) gave an impact to the marriage.
"The marriage certificate issued before this should be revoked and details on the divorce needs to be registered," he said.
Judge Mohd Amran instructed a joint custody for the two children of the couple, unless one of them remarries.
Azmi said that among the agreed terms, Nurul Izzah would not filed for mutaah claim and matrimonial property.
He said the court instructed Raja Ahmad Shahrir to give RM1,500 in maintenance fee to the children every month.
