'Rat-tled' by statistics on two animals

THE four-legged ones were in the spotlight with the topic being “rat invasion” of Kuala Lumpur and tapirs becoming victims of road accidents.

The pesky problem about rats came about when an MP cited “scientific data” that rats could multiply faster than efforts to get rid of them. A rat could reproduce five times a year and up to 14 babies each time, said Thomas Su (DAP-Ipoh Timor).
