Excavator operator drowns after mining pool bank collapses

IPOH: A 60-year-old man drowned in a mining pool in Malim Nawar near here after its banks collapsed, plunging the man and the excavator he was operating into the water.

Kampar Fire and Rescue Department operation chief Yamin Naib said the victim, Loo Yok Ben, was operating the excavator on the banks of the Lombong Itik Kongsi 8 mining pool when its banks suddenly collapsed at about 10.45am Saturday.
