Jamil Khir: Jais played its role in safeguarding Islam

KUALA LUMPUR: The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) played its role in safeguarding the interests of Islam in the state in the case of a Hindu wedding in Petaling Jaya recently. 

According to Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom, in terms of procedure, Jais was more knowledgeable on the authority vested in it - in accordance with the constitution - that Islam is under the authority of the respective state Islamic religious councils.
