KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) is reminded to take action relating to complaints on problems such as water pools and sinking land that are reported in KL International Airport 2 (KLIA2).
Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chief Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed said MAHB, the KLIA2 operator, had admitted there were several 'inadequacies' in the airport before it started operations on May 2 during a meeting with PAC previously.
"When we (PAC) came here, they (MAHB) said the problems can be solved and improved and so KLIA2 is in operation.
"And now only two weeks of operation there are already issues," he told reporters after chairing the PAC meeting here.
MAHB said there was no safety risk on the apron taxiway.
"We have stated in the past that (land) settlement at localised spots comprising less than one per cent of the apron is anticipated due to differential settlement.
"We are well prepared with a clear and workable engineering solution to address this issue," MAHB said in a statement.
The company said there was no impact to flight operations of any airlines as KLIA2 had ample aircraft parking bays to accommodate aircraft movements.
It said MAHB and Air Asia had daily meetings where operational and safety issues were discussed at length and explanations and solutions were provided. - Bernama
