Man slashes would be rapist with machete to protect wife

ALOR SETAR: Incensed over a Bangladeshi worker's attempt to rape his wife, a man grabbed a machete and slashed the foreigner's right leg at the couple's house in Teluk Wanjah here on Friday.

Earlier, the 62-year-old husband had tried to pull the Bangladeshi away from his 50-year-old wife before he was floored with a punch.

At that juncture, he grabbed a machete and slashed the man on the leg in the incident about 12.30pm.

The 40-year-old suspect was handed over to the police to facilitate investigations.

The injured man was warded at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital.

Kota Setar police chief ACP Adzaman Mohd Jan said on Saturday, the case was classified as attempted rape. - Bernama
