Protest organisers thank cool-headed cops

PETALING JAYA: The organisers of the New Year’s Eve protest against price hikes have thanked the police and Kuala Lumpur City Hall officers for helping to ensure that the rally took place peacefully.

According to the chairman of Gerakan Turun Kos Sara Hidup (Turun), Muhamad Azan Safar, the rally had adhered to its aim of being a peaceful protest. He denied any involvement in unruly acts, and said the huge attendance was proof that the people were truly burdened by the current cost of living.
