“Being a local girl, it was extraordinary for her to have a white man”

KUALA LUMPUR: Bosnian Ervin Ahbabovic said it was "love at first sight" when he met his Malaysian ex-girlfriend in Kuala Lumpur in 2008.

"I thanked God for my good luck to meet such a beautiful and intelligent woman," said the 41-year-old Bosnian business consultant when met on Tuesday.

But the relationship has since soured.

“She told me to go die on the road, that I was only a gigolo,” he said.

The self-professed family man said he was “heartbroken” because his ex-girlfriend supposedly used him to satisfy her sexual desires.

Ahbabovic is now suing his former lover for allegedly abusing his sperm to produce an offspring with European genes.

He cried as he told The Star Online how she prevented him from seeing their 3-year-old son.

“She needed a beautiful boy and she got it,” he said.

The boy is apparently currently cared for by her parents while she “enjoys the single life”.

He claimed that the woman changed her mind about marrying him after their son was born in 2010.

“After returning from a week-long trip to Penang, I found that my name was not on my son’s birth certificate,” he said.

Apart from monetary compensation of RM600,000 for the usage of sperm for the purpose of getting a child by wrongful way, and costs and further reliefs deemed fit and proper by the court, Ahbabovic is also seeking recognition as the father of their son in the birth certificate.

Earlier on, the Malaysian Permanent Resident had reservations about starting a relationship with the 29-year-old due to the 12-year age gap and other differences, but said she insisted on continuing with it.

When he tried to end the relationship before it got serious, the woman apparently threatened to jump from the ninth floor of an apartment block.

“Being a local girl, perhaps it was extraordinary for her to have a white man as a boyfriend,” said Ahbabovic.

He claimed to see no difference between Asians and Europeans, and cited cultural diversity as a reason for moving to Malaysia in 1995.

“She controlled everything I did. I could not even sit with women, only men. But I accepted it,” he added.

She had “mostly white people” as friends on Facebook and in her social circles, he claimed.

After their relationship ended, he said he was “thrown out of the house” with no car, clothes or money.

He now relies on the goodwill of friends and neighbours for shelter and financial assistance.

Ahbabovic also alleged difficulty using his left hand after a main artery was wounded when she stabbed his left forearm last September.

“Though the police found out about it, I did not allow them to arrest the mother of my child. I said they could arrest me instead,” he said.

According to him, corrective surgery is not a priority as he is more concerned with passing “packets of cash” and other necessities to the woman’s friends and relatives for his son’s upbringing.

But even after his experience, Ahbabovic said that it would be unfair to think all Malaysian women have the same motives when entering relationships with foreigners.

He advised those like himself to learn the woman’s culture and traditions and get their parents’ consent before getting attached.

“You will know by then whether it’s about money, semen, or something else. If it’s that way, don’t get married. It’s better to be single,” he said.

Ahbabovic remains hopeful for reconciliation.

“We are children of God. If He can forgive us, we can forgive each other. All I want is to see my beloved son and bring him up the right way,” he said.
