Khaled: Johor state government will deal with errant housing developers

PASIR GUDANG: The Johor state government will deal with housing developers that have failed to build low cost houses and affordable housing within their projects.

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said that a large number of developers have failed to build such houses, defying policies set in place by the state government.

"We have set up a special taskforce for housing and land-related matters and this taskforce is in the midst of identifying errant housing developers," he said when met at his Hari Raya open house held at the Pasir Gudang indoor stadium here.

When asked if the errant developers would be penalised if they failed to build low cost houses and affordable housing, Mohamed Khaled said that the taskforce was still devising the best method to deal with them.

"Many of the local housing developers have conveniently overlooked this condition and one reason is so they can rake in more profit by building luxury homes," he said.
