Police urge Najadi’s son to come to Malaysia to assist in murder investigation

KUALA LUMPUR: City police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohmad Salleh urged the son of Arab Malaysian Banking Group founder Hussain Ahmad Najadi to come to Malaysia to assist in police investigations into his father's murder.

"He is making denials in the newspaper and that will not help us solve the case. He should come to KL and help the police," DCP Mohmad told reporters after a walkabout in Jalan Masjid India on Saturday.

Mohmad said he believed that the gunman was still in the country and urged the public to share any information they have on the suspect.

"We have released a clear photo of him and I am sure somebody knows him," he added.

Pascal Najadi, who is currently in Russia, denied in a news report that his father was involved in any land deal that could have led to his murder on Monday.

However, he also said in the same report that he would not come to Malaysia unless the suspect had been arrested.

Hussain, 75, was shot dead while his wife Chong Mei Kuen, 49, was injured after being shot from close range by a lone gunman while they were walking to their car after discussing a property deal at a Chinese temple in Lorong Ceylon here.

Police have released pictures from CCTV recordings of a man believed to the gunman.
