GEORGE TOWN: Pertububan Pribumi Perkasa Negara (Perkasa) wants the Malays in Penang to oppose the state government's plan of selecting mosque committees through elections as the organisation believes that it will only divide the Muslim community here.
Perkasa information chief Ruslan Kasim said the new method, if implemented, would adversely affect the sanctity of the mosques and unity among the local Muslim communities due to power struggles, the creation of factions, and animosity.
