Papers on shooting case of Aminulrasyid submitted to DPP (Update)

SHAH ALAM: The investigation papers into the death of 15-year-old Aminulrasyid Amzah have been submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) for further action.

Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan said the investigation officer of the case had met the DPP on Friday to discuss their next course of action.

Musa said this after visiting the site at 10am on Friday, where Aminulrasyid crashed his elder sister’s Proton Iswara into a wall some 100 metres from the victim’s home in Jalan 11/2G in Section 11, Shah Alam.

He and Selangor police chief Selangor police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar were also shown how the events had taken place for about 10 minutes before speaking to reporters.

Later he inspected the car that was driven by Aminulrasyid currently placed in Berjaya Park in Section 32 here.

He also said the police would welcome an inquest into the incident to establish the truth and the cause of the incident.

Musa said that recently, there had been many house break-ins reported in the area.

“When the policemen saw the car being driven suspiciously at 2am in a crime prone area, and after being asked to stop and a car chase ensued for 6km, obviously it would have created a lot of doubts and suspicion in the minds of the officers,” he said.

“We are saddened by this incident. You should stop when ordered by the police.

“Even if you have no licence you should not fear and speed away. At most you will be fined,” he said.

Musa added that during the car chase, a motorcyclist was also involved in an accident with the car driven by Aminulrasyid, injuring his hands and legs.

“A police report was lodged and we expect to record the injured person’s statement today,” he said.

Musa also explained that the normal operating procedure to stop speeding cars during a car chase was for the police to try and drive side by side of the speeding vehicle before blocking its path by halting in front it.

He also expressed hope that the issue would not be politicised as investigations were ongoing.
