Boo Chang quits after eight years

PENANG: Former two-term Datuk Keramat assemblyman Lim Boo Chang has quit the MCA, eight years after he joined the party from Gerakan.

Lim, 53, sent his resignation letter via facsimile yesterday to notify party president Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting of his intention to quit all party posts.

He resigned as Kampung Lembah Ria branch chairman and Bukit Gelugor division committee member.

Lim was not fielded in the recent general election. He last contested against DAP’s strongman Karpal Singh in 2004 but lost by a majority of 1,261 votes for the Bukit Gelugor parliamentary constituency.
