THE HIGHER Education Ministry should disclose the criteria of selection for the Postgraduate Teacher Training Course, Sin Chew Daily reported.
The daily received complaints from applicants who failed to secure a place even though they were qualified.
A Universiti Putra Malaysia graduate said she was disappointed when she found out that her name was not in the list announced recently.
“I applied because I have the qualification. Now I have appealed to the ministry,” she said, adding that she had also applied to be a temporary teacher but was told there was no vacancy.
An e-mail to the daily said many applicants were unable to secure a place in the course and hoped the ministry would be transparent in the selection.
On another issue, the daily reported that former Kota Melaka MP Kerk Kim Hock was the matchmaker for Batu Gajah MP Fong Po Kuan and Johor DAP organising secretary Tan Chen Choon, who would be married on Jan 12 next year.
Fong, 34, told the daily that Kerk was the one who encouraged them to date after they first met in Johor Baru in 2001.
Kerk said he was not the matchmaker but had encouraged Tan to “go after Fong” as the couple were suited for each other.
