Ahli Fiqir thrilled to perform for green cause

KUALA LUMPUR: For Ahli Fiqir, uniting the diversity of music for a good cause is simply “mind-blowing”. 

And the Singapore hip-hop group is raring to go for the star-studded SuriaFM Green Everyday 2007 Concert this Saturday. 

“We are thrilled to be part of something that can be considered historic. Imagine having 58 performers and famous personalities coming together for the environment,” said group member Noor Hidayati Mohamed Yusop, who is also known as Mawarberduri. 

“All of us are concerned with what’s happening to the environment, especially the effects of global warming. This is a great opportunity and a stepping-stone for us to champion such a cause,” she said.

Ahli Fiqir, which consists of Noor Hidayati, Fadali Mohd Dalif (Ahlifiqir), Samsolnahar Sibengat (Samsol the Tukangkata) and Ceza Mutyara (DJ Cza), will be rocking the stage with their first single from their second album, Rap Untuk Rakyat. 

“We will be performing our first single entitled 2X5. It’s an upbeat number and hopefully the song will create a great atmosphere for the audience to enjoy themselves,” she said. 

Last year, the group's Hari Ini Dalam Sejarah was acclaimed as Best Singaporean Album at the prestigious Anugerah Planet Muzik (APM) 2006. They also received an MTV Asia Award nomination for Favourite Artiste, Malaysia last year. 

Other familiar Singaporean acts will also be taking part in the grand event on Saturday. 

Ramli Sarip, who is known for his nostalgic numbers such as Bukan Kerana Nama, Istilah Bercinta and Jikalau Berkasih, will also be lending his star appeal to the concert. 

The latest pop sensation out of Singapore, Imran Ajmain, who recently won an award for Best Male Newcomer at APM 2007, will also be performing.
