Hungry Ghost festival begins

PENANG: The Gates of Hell “opened” yesterday, freeing the spirits of the underworld for one month. 

And ushering in the “ghost month,” which falls on the seventh month of the lunar calendar, makeshift sheds for Phor Thor (Hungry Ghost festival) have sprouted in various parts of the island.
