Official flag for all three FTs unveiled

PUTRAJAYA: It is one official flag for the three Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya from now on.

The flag was unveiled by Federal Territories Minister Datuk Zulhasnan Rafique here yesterday.

It will be flying high when the FT contingent – representing the three places – takes it to the Sukma Games in Kedah from May 27 to June 4.

According to Zulhasnan, the Cabinet had on May 3 made the decision to have an official FT flag and song.

Although Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya have their own flags, only the Kuala Lumpur flag would be used at official functions like meetings, festivals and sports events.

“However, the existing flags of the three FTs will still be used and each flag will be hoisted alongside the official FT flag at functions and events,” he added.

An official launch of the FT flag and song composed by Datuk Wah Idris, with lyrics by Sheikh Faisal Mansor, will be held soon.

The flag, bearing red, blue and ochre stripes with the national emblem in the middle, was designed by a team from UiTM.
