Chia: "I want to explore other fields in the entertainment industry." |
KUALA LUMPUR: The country’s best-known model Amber Chia has another feather in her cap – she is now a show host.
The 23-year-old, who won the international Guess model search last year, will appear in a local programme City Amoeba to be aired over TV2 at 11am today.
“I want to explore other fields in the entertainment industry and learn as much as possible because I don’t think I should limit myself to modelling,” Chia said yesterday.
Chia, who has been modelling for about five years, made her acting debut in the Taiwanese film Ending in August last year. Her second movie, a Malaysian film titled Third Generation, will be released on Nov 10.
The leggy lass said hosting City Amoeba was a new learning experience. The 13-episode Chinese programme focuses on beauty and lifestyle and will be shown every Friday.
“I was quite nervous initially but the director, Rabbit Chen, was very calm and patient with me. He kept telling me to relax and taught me how to express myself and sound cheerful,” Chia told a press conference here.
City Amoeba is co-hosted by former local actress Yvonne Saw and fashion stylist Michael Poh and is produced by Nancie Foo and Wendy Wong of Produksi Seni 2020 Sdn Bhd.
Wong said the programme was meant for both men and women.
“We want to reach out to as many people as possible and this is why the programme covers a wide range of topics,” she said, adding that among the highlights are beauty and fashion tips, makeover sessions and career advice.
