Mawi still the talk of the town

TWO days have passed since the final concert of Akademi Fantasia 3 but Mawi continued to dominate all the Bahasa Malaysia dailies with pictures of the son of a Felda settler splashed on the covers.

Articles on the 24-year-old from Kulai, Johor, who is now richer by more than RM300,000, included his comments on his fiancée Nur Diana.

Mawi, whose full name is Asmawi Ani, said they were engaged but no wedding date has been set.

Utusan Malaysia dedicated two full pages to stories and pictures of Mawi, including comments from the academy’s principal M. Nasir who said that Mawi deserved the title despite talk that by singing Aduh Saliha which was composed by Nasir, Astro and the academy had wanted Mawi to win.

Kosmo! reported that despite all the hype about Mawi and AF3, only 14 million SMSes were received compared to more than 15 million the previous season.
