Turtle centre needs help to hatch eggs

KUALA TERENGGANU: The Turtle and Marine Ecosystem Centre (Tumec) in Rantau Abang, Dungun, near here has appealed to local scientists to help in the incubation of Leatherback turtle eggs after failing for three years to do so. 

Tumec head Kamaruddin Ibrahim, who sent out the SOS yesterday, said: “We have a problem, our Leatherback turtle eggs have not been hatching. This year, of 322 eggs incubated, none has hatched.
