KUCHING: IT lecturer Marcella Shareen Mos has been crowned Miss Fair & Lovely Gawai Tourism Night 2004 at Sarawak Cultural Village in Damai resort near here.
The 23-year-old was a favourite among the 15 finalists.
A big crowd, including tourists, gathered around the village’s scenic lake to watch the annual event on Saturday night.
Another highlight was a cultural play on the Kelabit legend of “Agan Tadun II.”
Marcella, who was a finalist in last year’s state-level Kumang Gawai pageant, won RM3,000, a scholarship for a diploma course in tourism business management with IBMS, a Kuching-Perth return air ticket, a cellular phone and other gifts.

Norazlin Abusman, 23, was the first runner-up. The Kedah lass, who at 1.75m was tallest among the finalists, is pursuing an IT degree at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas). She won RM2,000 and a Kuching-Kuala Lumpur return air ticket.
Another Unimas student, Hasiyn Syimah, 21, was placed third. Pursuing a degree in electronic engineering, she bagged RM1,000 and a Kuching-Kota Kinabalu return air ticket.
Lovita Celinny Lindang, 19, walked away with the Miss Beauty Skin subsidiary title.
Other winners were 18-year-old Sherry Easther Bredai Belayong (Miss Fujifilm Photgenic) and Fazariah Abu Samah, 21, (Miss Shinning Personality).
