Royalty and CJ head Kedah honours list

ALOR STAR: The Sultan of Kedah’s younger brother and the Chief Justice will head the honours list of the Kedah Ruler’s 76th birthday today. 

Tunku Datuk Abdul Hamid Thani ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah and Tan Sri Ahmad Fairuz Datuk Sheikh Abdul Halim will receive the Darjah Seri Setia di-Raja Kedah (SSDK) award which carries the title “Datuk Seri.” 

Ahmad Fairuz:Receives the SSDK title

State Legislative Assembly Speaker Datuk Haji Badruddin Amiruldin is the only recipient of the Datuk Paduka Seri Setia Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah (DHMS) title, carrying the title “Datuk Paduka.” 

Four will receive the Darjah Kebesaran Gemilang Seri Mahkota Kedah Yang Amat Di-Hormati (DGMK) which carries the title “Datuk Wira.” 

They are army chief Jen Datuk Pahlawan Mohd Azumi Mohamad, Datuk Seri Zainol Ariff Haji Hussain of the Prime Minister’s Department, state Public Services Commission chairman Datuk Haji Mohd Zain Osman and Malaysian Mining Corporation Bhd chairman Datuk Syed Abdul Jabbar Syed Hassan. 

Haji Badruddin:Only recipientof the DHMS title.

Forty-five others will be conferred Datuk Setia di-Raja Kedah (DSDK) which carries the title “Datuk.” 

Among them are Kedah Legal Advisor Aziah Ali, Kedah Islamic Affairs Department chief Syeikh Kasim Saad, Deputy State Legislative Assembly Speaker Haji Mohd Hadzir Ismail and Kedah police chief Datuk Mohamed Supian Haji Amat. 

Suraya:Made a Justice ofthe Peace.

Three Kedah civil service officers who are also made Datuks are Langkawi district officer Haji Rasli Bassir, Baling district officer Haji Abdul Wahab Bakar and Sungai Petani Municipal Council president Haji Abdul Rahman Ahmad. 

The Sultan’s aide-de-camp Lt-Kol Tunku Aziz Bendahara Tunku Nong Jiwa, lawyer Tan Seng Jin and Kedah PPP chairman Nadarajan Veraya will also receive the DSDK award.  

Among those made Justices of the Peace are Kedah Puteri Umno chief Suraya Yaacob and the Housing and Local Government Minister’s press secretary Boey Chin Gan. 

A total of 798 people will receive their awards in conjunction with the Sultan’s birthday at special award presentation ceremonies at the Istana Anak Bukit from today.
