Devotees to pray for Abdullah

PETALING JAYA: A special prayer will be held for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi at Batu Caves today in conjunction with the third International Arulmigu Murukan Conference Malaysia 2003 here. 

Conference chairman R. Nadarajah said the special prayer would be held after the “1008 Kalasa Abhisegam with Maha Velli” ritual. 

He said the Kalasa Abhisegam would begin at 11am, with a procession of 1,008 devotees walking up the 272 steps of Batu Caves, Kuala Lumpur. 

“They will carry water in the 'holy kodum' to perform the Maha Abhisegam for Lord Muruga at the Sri Subramaniyar temple. Immediately after this, we will conduct the special prayer,” he said, adding that 3,000 people were expected to attend the session. 

Works Minister and MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu will open the Nov 2-5 conference at 5pm.
