JOHOR BARU: Former TV3 personality turned paralympic athlete Ras Adiba Radzi embarked on her 11-day marathon in a wheelchair from here to Putrajaya yesterday.

The marathon, Wheelchair Adventure 03, organised in conjunction with the National Paralympic Movement Programme 2003, aims to lift the spirit of sportsmanship in paralympic athletes.

Ras Adiba, 33, who is paralysed from the waist down, will be accompanied by two paralympic athletes – Mohd Sani Harun and Amli Lamshah. She is targeting to arrive at Dataran Putrajaya on Aug 20 after travelling 398km.

Speaking to reporters before the start at the Spastic Association building here, Ras Adiba said she would be travelling 5km per hour and had been training for the past six months.

She said she would cover about 30km a day, passing through Pontian and Batu Pahat before arriving in Muar on Tuesday.
