GRIK: The 20th species of the worlds largest flower, the rafflesia, found in the Royal Belum State Park in Upper Perak, has been named after the Sultan of Perak Sultan Azlan Shah.
Prof Dr Abdul Latif Mohamad, who led a 106-member scientific expedition team to the upper section of the forest in Hulu Perak recently, said the Rafflesia azlanii, with a diameter of 43cm, was first discovered in Sungai Halong during an earlier expedition in 1993.
