JOHOR BARU: An Indonesian man was killed while trying to rescue two of his fellow construction workers who were cleaning a 6m-deep manhole at Pandan Hospital in Johor Baru yesterday.
Fire and Rescue Department operations officer Mohd Razam Taja Rahim said firemen arrived to find that the Indonesian had rescued one of his colleagues, a Malaysian, while the Vietnamese man was still trapped in the manhole.
The Vietnamese worker was rescued in less than 30 minutes but died at the Sultan Aminah Hospital.

Youth drowns in mining poolKUALA KLAWANG: A 25-year-old youth drowned after a fishing trip at the bottom of a disused mining pool in Kampung Baru Titi, near here on Monday.
The victim, identified as Chim Kai Lun, was believed to have drowned after taking a bath in the mining pool at about 5pm.
