DOE declares war on open burning

SHAH ALAM: The Selangor Department of Environment is out to nab those who carry out open burning following the detection of a case in Busut Baru, Dengkil, recently. 

The department faces an annual battle with farmers who practise the slash-and-burn method during the hot season to clear and fertilise land for replanting of vegetables and cash crop, state DOE director Kalsom Abdul Ghani Ismail said.
