Mayban Finance held liable for losses from safe deposit boxes

KUALA LUMPUR: Mayban Finance Bhd was ordered by the High Court to compensate 18 people for their losses incurred following an underground tunnel robbery at one of its branches in 1995. 

Justice Abdul Hamid Said, in his decision yesterday, held the company “wholly liable for the losses” suffered by Susan Cheah Pik Yee and 17 others, who had rented safe deposit boxes at the Taman Cheras branch prior to the burglary.
