Five held over EPF scam

PENANG: Five men, including a former EPF officer, were recently arrested by the police in connection with a scam involving RM1mil in illegal withdrawals from Account Three meant for education and medical expenses.  

The former officer, in his 30s, who surrendered himself to the state Commercial Crime branch at the police contingent headquarters on Wednesday, had approved at least 225 applications for withdrawal between March and April last year.
