A YOUNG person’s potential should not be limited by financial circumstances.
Sharing this belief, Creador and Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) have launched a need-based scholarship programme to help deserving Malaysian students pursue higher education at the university.
Open to Malaysian students, including recent Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) and Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) graduates, the Creador Scholarship for Excellence & Opportunity aims to help recipients develop the knowledge and practical skills needed for their future careers, as well as the confidence, relationships and experiences that will stay with them beyond university.
Creador founder and chief executive officer (CEO) Brahmal Vasudevan (pic) said education can change the course of a person’s life, and often the lives of their families as well.
“There are many talented young Malaysians who have worked hard, have big aspirations and simply need an opportunity. We started this scholarship because we do not believe financial circumstances should determine how far a young person can go.
“If we are in a position to help create that opportunity for deserving students, we believe it is something worth doing. We hope our scholars will make the most of it and, one day, be in a position to create opportunities for others too,” he said in a Sept 14 press release.
APU CEO Datuk Parmjit Singh said beyond access to education, the initiative will allow students to develop the skills, confidence and industry exposure needed to pursue meaningful careers in technology and other high-growth fields.
“We believe talent can come from anywhere. What matters is giving young people the opportunity, support and environment to realise their potential.
“Through the initiative, we hope to open doors for deserving students for whom the cost of higher education might otherwise be a significant barrier,” he said.
