SPM grads get more time to apply for higher education courses via UPUOnline

PETALING JAYA: Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) holders will now have until April 12 to apply for higher education courses via UPUonline, says the Higher Education Ministry.

However, the last day for Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) or those with equivalent qualifications remains on March 23.

“Referring to the official media statement by the Education Ministry regarding the announcement date of the 2025 SPM results, we are pleased to inform you that the application period for student admission for the 2026/2027 Academic Session for the SPM Holders Application Phase via UPUOnline, which opened on January 29 January, has now been extended from the original closing date of March 23 to April 12,” it said in a statement on Monday (March 9).

The Ministry also reminded interested SPM holders to purchase the UPUOnline PIN number from Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) for RM10.60 (inclusive of service charge) before submitting their applications online.

Payment can be done at 387 BSN Branch Counters, 843 BSN Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) and online through myBSN Internet Banking.

"BSN will issue the PIN number along with a copy of the payment receipt. Applicants are also requested to keep the payment slip for reference as proof of a valid purchase.

“Candidates are advised to complete their applications early and not wait until the last minute to avoid any disruption or traffic congestion on the UPUOnline system.

“In addition, ensure that the application has been confirmed by pressing the ‘I Agree’ button and the application slip is printed or downloaded as a reference and proof that it has been successfully submitted," the statement read.

A total of 363 study programmes are offered to SPM graduates and 1,146 study programmes offered to STPM and its equivalent graduates by public universities, polytechnics, community colleges and Mara Higher Education Division.
