Imagine spending two years learning alongside classmates from over 80 countries, debating world issues over dinner, trekking through forests on weekends, or shaping projects that make a real difference in people’s lives.
This is what students experience at United World Colleges (UWC), which is made up of 18 schools and colleges on four continents.
Scholarships, said UWC Malaysia national committee chairperson Adriana Nordin Manan, are available with online applications for the class of 2025-2027 set to open starting Oct 1.
This year, five Malaysians began their own UWC adventures in Canada, Italy, Armenia, Eswatini and China.
“Diversity is at the core of UWC. Scholarships enable students from villages, cities, and everywhere in between to learn side by side, and to return as leaders who strengthen their own communities,” Adriana said.
Nyu He Ren, who graduated in May this year, said UWC gave him the courage to see the world differently and to not be content with the narratives of others.
“In those two years, I found adventure and friendship far beyond my fears.
“I arrived a student and left with a bigger heart and open soul — truly curious, adventurous and thoughtful about the world,” he said in a press release.
