Discover UOW Malaysia, beyond KDU

At UOW Malaysia, your university experience goes beyond education, helping you build essential soft skills like social interaction and networking in a fun, safe environment.

WHEN you complete secondary school, conversations with your parents about the next steps are likely on the cards.

These chats can often turn nostalgic as they reminisce about their own university-going days.

If they are alumni of KDU University, they’d probably be surprised to hear that their alma mater has been rebranded to UOW Malaysia.

This transition took place in 2019, bringing together the best that KDU and the University of Wollongong (UOW) have to offer.

Advancing campuses

Those familiar with KDU or UOW Malaysia are likely to know of the Glenmarie campus because of the quality of education it provides, attracting students from across the country and even abroad.

In Jan 2020, the institution opened its UOW Malaysia KDU Penang University College Batu Kawan campus, expanding its renowned quality education and making it accessible to students living in the northern regions.

In Selangor, the Glenmarie campus reached a new milestone in its growth by attaining university status in 2023.

It is now officially known as UOW Malaysia and sits among the top universities in the country thanks to its high standards of quality education and internationally recognised, home-grown degree programmes.

As a result, it’s no surprise that the university’s graduates rank among the most sought-after graduates after the institution was voted as one of the Employers’ Preferred Universities by Talentbank in 2024.

Creating career-ready graduates

As educators and ex-students, the team at UOW Malaysia understands firsthand that learning extends far beyond the classroom.

On top of getting the education you need, your university experience at UOW Malaysia will include building essential soft skills like social interaction and networking in a fun and safe environment.

To aid in this, the university has established various clubs, societies, programmes and activities – many of which are run by the students themselves – to help students develop these skills and better prepare them to begin their careers.

When it comes to careers, UOW Malaysia believes that the best way to get started is to experience it for yourself. The university’s Global Career Development Hub will connect you to a wider range of internship opportunities.

If you feel daunted, the career counsellors and associated workshops will help ease your fears and set you on the right path to make that first crucial step into the workforce.

UOW Malaysia has come a long way from its humble KDU days, going from strength to strength and evolving with the times to become a university that delivers on its promise of providing world-class education and an unforgettable experience for every student who walks through its doors.
