TO mark 50 years of diplomatic ties between China and Malaysia, the upcoming 8th TARCian Run will welcome participants from the China Students and Scholars Association in Malaysia (CSSA-MY).

This year’s run, which will take place on Sept 22 at the Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) Kuala Lumpur Campus, is unique as it is held in conjunction with nationwide celebrations of cooperation between the two nations, said TAR UMT board of governors chairman Tan Sri Chan Kong Choy.

TARCian Run is an annual event organised by the TARCian Alumni Association (TAA) and TAR UMT.

“The TARCian Run has always been about promoting a healthy lifestyle, sense of unity and solidarity among its students, staff, alumni, and the local community.

“But this year, we are taking it a step further by welcoming participants from CSSA-MY, a symbolic gesture that highlights the strong bonds of friendship between China and Malaysia forged through five decades of good diplomatic ties, friendly relationships, and mutually beneficial synergy between our nations,” said Chan, who is also TAR UMT Alumni Council (TAC) chairman, at a press conference at the varsity’s KL Campus on June 26.

Sponsored by Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE), the 7km TARCian Run 2024 will take place along a section of the scenic Setiawangsa-Pantai Expressway (SPE).

Runners will include students from SMJK Chong Hwa KL and TAR UMT branches in Perak, Johor and Pahang.
