COME 2024, Chong Hwa Independent High School students can look forward to the completion of a fully-equipped sports complex. Measuring 20,000 sq m, the RM30mil building is set to house a myriad of facilities such as a swimming pool, a basketball court, a ping-pong court and a gymnasium.
Calling on generous donors to make the dream of a new sports complex a reality, school principal Cheong Moey Lian said the project would ensure that students are physically active.
“It is important to produce well-rounded students who can perform in both academics and sports.“When students are physically well, they would perform better mentally too,” she said, adding that to date, the school in Kuala Lumpur has raised a total of RM15mil.
She was speaking after a mock cheque presentation ceremony at the school’s media night and fundraising dinner in Petaling Jaya.
The Aug 13 event raised a total of RM1.842mil for the sports complex and RM252,888 for the school’s teacher and staff welfare fund.
Thanking donors for their contributions, Chong Hwa chairman Tan Sri Lim Keng Cheng appealed to businesses and private donors to support the school.
