Cheong Ko En, 21

Bachelor of Software Engineering (Honours)

Sunway University

Driven by curiosity about how software works and its impact on people’s lives, Cheong enjoys coding and problem-solving. She hopes to gain experience and eventually start a technology project or company that addresses real-world challenges.

“Scholarship opportunities often see potential we don’t always recognise in ourselves. Don’t hesitate to try, even if you feel uncertain. For overall growth at university, building connections is crucial. Form meaningful relationships with peers and lecturers who can offer guidance. Explore interests beyond your major. While I study software engineering, I am also interested in design thinking and startup processes. These experiences help develop a broader perspective and skills applicable to future careers, rather than limiting yourself to a single path.”
