GROWING up in a single income household, Joy Kua Pei Xin was adamant that she would do well in her studies so that she would not burden her family.

The daughter of a cook and a housewife, the HELP University Faculty of Business, Economics and Accounting student is one of the varsity’s three students who received a scholarship from the University of Queensland (UQ).
