Marking its 50th anniversary

THE Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Kubang Kerian Health Campus has become the first university in the country to organise the USM International Kite Festival 2019.

USM Kubang Kerian deputy director Prof Dr Adam Husein said the feat of organising the three-day festival had earned the university a listing in the Malaysia Book of Records.

The festival, which ended on Tuesday, was organised by the orthopaedics department, School of Medical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Kelantan in collaboration with the Kelantan Tourism Information Centre, the Malaysia Kite Council and the Kelantan Kite Association.

Specialist doctors and staff of the Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital (HUSM) and the university’s medical students took part in the festival in conjunction with USM’s 50th anniversary.

“The event also attracted 32 international participants from 12 countries including Sweden, Columbia, Austria, Japan, Brunei and Indonesia,” he said.

Chairman of the festival, Prof Dr Shaifuzain Ab Rahman, said the kite festival might be made an annual event in the future. - Bernama
