INTI graduate wins design award

A look at Teohs design which infuses the brand’s current nostalgic feel with a touch of modern twist.

TEOH Jia Ni beat 5,304 worldwide entrants to clinch the semi-finalist spot in the recent Adobe Design Achievement Awards (ADDA) competition.

A global digital media competition, ADDA is organised to help students connect and build their network with industry professionals and academic leaders in an effort to launch students’ careers.

The INTI International College Subang Jaya student was also awarded the Special APAC Honourable Mention award for her winning entry on the Liang Hiang Rebranding project, a local grocery store that has been in business for more than 30 years.

Teoh’s project focused on building a new identity to target younger consumers while maintaining its current customers.

The Graphic Design graduate conceptualised a balance of vintage and modern look for the grocery store.

“To infuse the brand with both modern and nostalgic elements, I chose green as the primary colour for this project.

“Liang Hiang sought to break out of the intense local competition by providing customers with a new sense of retail atmosphere and experiences.

“By using risograph printing to complete the branding for this project, I was able to retain some of the original aspects of the brand while giving it a modern look and feel,” said Teoh, 26.

Her Liang Hiang Rebranding project was also exhibited at INTI’s Centre for Art and Design Degree Show 2016 with the theme, “Get The Fresh Ones”.
