Joint study on drug users

Filepic of drug abuse

INJECTING drug users who are committed to drug rehabilitation centres (Puspen) have been found to have a significantly higher relapse rate compared to their counterparts who enter voluntary establishments, such as the Cure and Care centres.

A study conducted in collaboration by researchers from Universiti Malaya (UM) and the Yale University School of Medicine, University of Florida College of Medicine and the Burnet Institute Melbourne that was supported by the World Bank and published in The Lancet Global Health found that those from compulsory drug detention centres (CDDCs or Puspen in Malaysia) were 84% more likely to go back to using opioids.
