Wartime-like mobilisation effort for Malaysian education

IN ONE of the most consequential shifts in Malaysia's education system, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that six-year-olds may start Year One from 2027.

In a typical year, around 400,000 seven-year-olds enter Year One. By 2027, that number could surge to 600,000 - or even 800,000 if uptake among six-year-olds is high.
