Sharing expertise: Representatives from Taylor’s School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts and Hilding Anders pose for a photo after the launch of the three housekeeping suites.

TAYLOR’s University School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts is working with Hilding Anders, which is the leading manufacturer of beds in Europe, Russia and Asia with brands such as Bico, Slumberland, Curem and Jensen.

The collaboration is part of the School’s Industry Immersion Programme, where industry partners adopt a practical facility and offer transfer of knowledge in their respective areas of expertise through a series of guest lectures and an industry forum.

Through this collaboration, Hilding Anders will be adopting three housekeeping suites that are used as practical training rooms by students undergoing hospitality courses by furnishing them with its latest products including bedding, pillows and its accessories.

School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts dean Neethiahnanthan Ari Ragavan said that this collaboration is part of the extensive efforts to provide its students with relevant industry exposure to leading practitioners before they move into the working world.

“We welcome Hilding Anders to our Industry Immersion Programme. This programme is crucial towards providing our students with exposure to current industry practices and learning from industry experts.

“Through this collaboration, our students will be able to gain insights from Hilding Anders’ specialists who will be conducting guest lectures here as well as getting valuable exposure to the industry by taking part in study tours to the Hilding Anders’ factory in Bangi,” he said.

“In addition, we are also contemplating a research and innovation project together with Hilding Anders capitalising on our Teaching and Innovation hotel – Ruemz Hotel through this partnership in the near future,” he added.

Hilding Anders Malaysia managing director Michael Teoh said: “We work closely with hoteliers and are happy to share our experience and expertise in creating the most comfortable sleeping environment for hotel guests with Taylor’s University School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts students,” he said after the ceremony for Hilding Anders’ housekeeping suites at the university.
