Learning through cultural immersion

Lean on me: Taylors University students posing with their sketches of the Leaning Tower of Pisa (in the background).

A group of architecture and design students visit Italy and are struck by the splendour of its buildings and their rich history.

IT was a 10-day trip of a lifetime for 43 students and three lecturers who were taken on a tour of the Italian cities of Rome, Florence, Pisa, Verona, Venice and Milan. The group experienced many adventures as they travelled from city to city by coach, lapping up the many iconic sights, such as the Roman Colosseum, the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the magnificent La Scala Theatre. In Venice, there was the added attraction of romantic gondola rides through the canals.
