IN 2016, SPM students would need to pass the English Language paper in order to secure the SPM certificate.
Over the years the pass rate for the SPM English Language paper has not been very encouraging, but because English Language was not compulsory in the SPM examination, many students who failed the paper, still received their SPM certificate.
