Going the distance

IN 2009, a team of university students from France – winners of the Shell Eco-marathon competition – proved that it was possible to travel 3,771km (approximately the distance between Paris and Baghdad, Iraq) on the equivalent of one litre of fuel.

At the inaugural Shell Eco-marathon Asia last year, a group of university students from Thailand designed a vehicle that could travel from Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur on one litre of fuel, earning them first place.
