Changing education


COLONISATION might not be a term commonly associated with education, but it was used by Monash University Malaysia (Monash Malaysia) pro vice-chancellor and president Prof Robin Pollard recently.

Speaking at the opening of the Educate09 seminar held at the university’s Sunway campus, he said: “(Initially) I had concerns whether we had a colonial mentality and whether we were disempowering the staff by just importing everything from Australia without learning from here.”
