BESIDES the usual water spraying and dousing, this year’s Thai New Year celebration of Songkran in Tumpat, Kelantan, saw a cultural and band performance as well as a Miss Songkran beauty pageant being held.
The celebration, one of the biggest held in recent years, turned out to be a grand affair — thanks to the efforts by the authorities in promoting the festival as a major attraction in the tourism calendar.
